What is the Power BI Desktop?
Power BI Desktop is the Windows Application that we can install in our PCs. This window app allows us to Connect, Transform and Visualize our Data. Most Business Intelligence ventures utilize Power BI Desktop to make reports, and afterward utilize the Power BI administration to impart their reports to other people.
Now let’s move to the uses of Power BI Desktop in which the first step is to Connect the Data.
How to connect Data in Power BI Desktop?
With Power BI Desktop, the first step is to connect to the data. There are different data sources to connect to from Power BI Desktop. To connect to data, follow the following simple steps-
Home tab → Get Data →More
More tab will show us the categories to which Power BI Desktop can connect.
Once we connect to the data source we have we can get into the next step of transforming the data as our usefulness.
How to clean Data and Create a Model in Power BI Desktop?
This step is all about cleaning your Data according to your report need. Here you can transform and clean the data type so that it fits into your requirement.
To make our work simple and more efficient we have the inbuilt Query Editor which records our every step.
Once you have cleaned your data then the data source is called a Data Model. Now next step is to make the Visualization of the Data Model.
How to use the Data Model to create Visuals in Power BI Desktop?
Now we have our Data Model, we can proceed to make the visual representation of the Data.
Just Drag the Data field into the report Canvas that you want to create visuals. There are a number of visuals you can choose from in Power BI Desktop.
You can also change the visuals as per your report need and save the visuals in new files.
Now as our visuals are ready we can move to the next step
To create a report from the Visuals in Power BI Desktop?
The collection of Visuals is called a Report. In Power BI we often combine the visuals of same intentions in one compilation.
It also depends on what you want to input in your Power BI report. According to your specification combine the visuals and your report is ready to go.
Now let’s move to the last step-
How to share the Report with colleague and Clients?
Once the report is complete now we can directly publish the report inside the desktop Application only. Just Click on the Publish button tab in Power BI Desktop and you are live on a shot.
You can then use your Power BI account to share the report to the concerned people in your workgroup.
